Silent Seduction (15)

************************************
When I see your face
There's not a thing that I won't change
Cos you are amazing
Just the way you are.
And when you smile
The whole world stop and stare for a while
Yeah you are amazing
Just the way you are
Bruno Mars (The way you are)
************************************
Tobi smiled at the picture on his phone. Tori appeared to be staring back at him with those smoky almond shaped eyes of hers in dismay.
Why do those eyes look like Jo's so much?
It appeared she wasnt prepared for the shot because she had her mouth and eyes wide open in utter shock or is that surprise when she saw the flash from his phone's camera. They were at the mall and she was going to drop a carton of tin milk inside the trolley when he did that.
They were going to get stuffs they needed at home at the mall and as usual, he was playing around like he always do. He kept snapping pictures of her without her knowing in her graceful and awkward pose.
You can't really blame him you know.
She was acting all bossy and told him not to do anything and as he couldn't just follow her around while she pushes the trolley, he just had to get himself busy by doing that.
He swiped the screen of his phone to the left and another image of her popped up.
Cruel!
It was her with icecream plastered and cascading down her face while she bit her stained lips in fury. Actually it was an accident caused by him. He was going to get them icecream cones when they were leaving the mall. He had so much stuffs in his hands that when he was going to hand her a cone, he tripped and the cone had flew off his hand right onto her face.
He was actually going to apologise to her but her ooking so funny was a memory he wouldn't pass up for anything. He had taken a shot of her first then hand her an hankie after which she chased him and they did a great job in eventually drawing attention to themselves creating the impression that they were dimwitted adults who ended up panting on the ride home.
Tobi was sitting in his Uncle's office and a lot of unattended-to paperworks were littered on the table. They were all piled on top one another in no organised manner. Some of them were just papers that needed signature and it annoy him that his Uncle couldn't even tend his signature.
His uncle appeared to have done nothing while he was away. Tobi could tell all he did during his absence was drink and having sexual escapades with different girls. His uncle had called in sick today and Tobi was asked to take his place.
Tobi knew what his unlce meant by 'sick' was him still having hangover with close to seven girls surrounding him on his bed.
His uncle's lifestyle just makes him sick. He had married and divorced close to four wives in ten years and he is approaching fifty something without a child yet he still lives like a teenager.
Tobi dropped his phone and folded his palm together. He rested his elbow on the table and brought his folded palms to his chin. He had been so playful this days he couldn't even believe it himself.
He had been busy doing a lot of hanging out with Tori that it was like he was obscuring Marcus chances of getting her which is like a bad bad move.
He can't remember those two hanging out again since the day he saw Marcus dropping off Tife and Tori at the gate.
He should get a hold of himself and stop being an enemy of progress and also focus on work.
Where was he even supposed to start working?
Firstly he needs to inspect the designers to be sure they were doing what was expected as was his routine. He was going to stand up when his phone started ringing.
Tori.
He let it ring for a while before picking it up.
'It seems you are enjoying yourself so much you weren't going to keep your promise of calling me.' He accused playfully.
'I'm sorry. I had been so busy and trust me when I tell you the hospital is no fun. So, what are you doing now?'
'I was going to check on the designers when your call came in.'
'It's like I'm disturbing right.'
'No. It's fine. So, how is your first day going?'
'It is terrible. One of my bosses actually hates me on sight. It's crazy right?' She sounded low. 'Is it that easy to hate me?'
'How absurd does that sound to even you? Why would someone just hate you?' Tobi asked with a disbelieving
'I know. It's hard to believe me but that's just the truth. I even hear her mention it to one of her colleagues that she has some feeling she hates me. It's really horrible hearing someone say they hate you out loud. Especially when that person is your boss.' She seemed to be having it deep.
Well his boss and uncle always say he hates him like everyday and it's not all that bad.
'Wow. Well, if what you are saying is true then your boss must be some psycho.' He continued,
'and it looks like you are letting that get to you. I thought you weren't kidding when you made your 'To not be drag down during difficult times because no one would pull me up when I refuse to get up' motto. You should learn to stick to your own theories. Just ignore her and do what you know how to do best. You don't expect everybody to like you.' He lectured and there was silence on the other end which suggested she was digesting his words.
He should introduce her to Jo one day. That way she won't be getting bullied by some superiors and that reminds him...
'By the way, how is Marcus?' He asked.
If she is seeing Marcus, maybe now is not the time to introduce her to Jo.
'He should be fine I guess. He wants us to go out on a date but I've been busy you know. But thinking about it right now, how did you know his name. I never told you.'
'Huh...'
'You had better not lie. You know you are a bad liar.' She said.
Maybe he should just tell her the partial truth.
'I know him. He was a friend's friend.'
'Why didn't you tell me earlier? Is there something you think I should know? I have this feeling you are hiding something from me.' She is all up in his head. Why must she be so inquisitive.
'Nah. Just forget about it. But shouldn't you be seeing him much more. It's a sign that you have moved on.'
'Well I guess I don't want to jump into any relationship just yet. I'm just going to avoid him for the mean time.' She wasn't changing her mind the way she said it.
'...and' she started ' I just noticed you said my motto without making any mistake despite it being so long. Did you perhaps have it memorised?'
'Is that the only thing you could lay your hands in all I just said?'
Was he amazed!
And he was thinking she was giving his words some serious thought.
Well, it appears not.
'Oooooh! It appears you are so used to me that any word that comes out of my mouth sticks to your brain like a magnet...'
He laughed out so loud at her attempt of trying to get a point out of him.
'Well, the truth is, I'm so scared you'll fall in love with amazing me. And the reason is not only because you look like some cartoon figurine but because I can't help thinking how very lame our children would be if they happen to take your gene...' He didn't complete his sentence before she cut.
'You don't have to worry about that. I can't afford giving birth to dull kids who won't know what oesophagus is at twenty something and have horrible handwriting as well. It would totally kill me.' he could tell she was feeling so proud of herself for her well delivered speech.
'Your memory works so well. But why does it have to be on things the whole world have forgotten? The people that were present when I did that 'oesophagus' mistake have even forgot.'
I guess.
'No. They have not. Like, who forgets such things? If you were to commit that blunder on the social media, you would have been a legend. The whole world will talk about you for days.'
She was really a kill joy.
'Thanks for making me feel like crap early in the morning. Now, if you won't mind Madam, I have some designers to inspect!'
'....and I have patients to attend to!'
'Good day!'
'Good day!'
They both said the 'good day' in unison and they both terminated the call at the same time too.
Tori smiled at her phone. She looked up thinking about how that boy needs some lessons on how to grow up, the smile still on her face but it disappeared when she saw Marcus.
He was speaking to a male doctor and he looked up right in time to see her before she even tried to escape. He walked down to her after excising himself from the doctor and that made her freeze for reasons she couldn't explain.
'Hi.' He said giving her that warm charming smile that gives her cold feet
