Samsung stops production of NOTE 7, the Solomon Grundi tale. *Updated

Remember that nusery rhyme? Solomon Grundi, born on Monday, Christened on Tuesday... Well, that's literally the case with Samsung's NOTE7. First released on August 19 this year in the US before it's full release in September, the device has come and is gone, I tag it the worst tech hardware pitfall of the year!

It all started when the device not long after its full release started acting like a bomb, at a point, one of the first set of occurrence had the device setting a car on fire well it did not stop at that, after a number of drastic explosion occurrences, Samsung made moves to recall all faulty units which they tried their best to replace with "safe units" (mid-late September). I even at a time read on Android Central that not up to 1% of the units they rolled out were faulty.

Fast forward to this month, earlier, WSJ reported that the company has officially pulled the plug on production of the device.

They had gone through the stress of recalling twice as users complained replacement units exhibited similar problems.

Well, I believe they had enough because as at yesterday,Samsung asked carriers to halt sales of the device as more complaints flew in about problems with the replacement units.
Note 7 owners were offered a full refund or a refund for a different Samsung smartphone, along with a $25 gift certificate or other add-on to sweeten the hassle of dealing with two rounds of recalls.
-Tech crunch

The decision to halt sales and production surely comes with a cost and it's NOT cheap, Reuters cites analysts estimating the loss due to a permanent end to the NOTE7 production to be about $17 billion.

The company didn't really say much as to the decision but a recent statement they released to TECH CRUNCH is:
For the benefit of consumers’ safety, we stopped sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 and have consequently decided to stop production.

Well there you have it, the flagship kind of device came dead on arrival if you ask me. And this is on big dent on their brand's image.

What do you think of this? And what do you think will happen if iPhone7 starts exploding? And how is Banky W feeling? 😷

Well according to GSM Arenahere, Samsung might just be dropping the note7 brand. Seriously I feel for them but I can't help but agree that the brand has brought them some ill publicity, a dent has been made on their reputation due to the awry mess, and they're spending quite much to clean it all up, they have already started sending out fire proof return packaging to recall all faulty units. Kudos to them for their gallantry, though it's costly, they're not backing out from taking responsibility.
